2023… What a Year!

The end of the year is always a great time to look back and reflect on the year that’s gone by. And wow what a year we’ve had. It’s been hectic at times. Totally hectic. But we’re finishing on a high and ready to rock and roll into 2024 with a fire in our belly.

But first, let’s look back at our top five moments of 2023. 🥂

01. relaunch.

Our relaunch party is where we started all over again. A new beginning, a new brand, a streamlined product and service set. And we got to do it very publicly, with a bunch of our best friends by our side. After a tough few months, it was great to kick things back off again with a bang.

A huge shout out to Livia Lucie at Three29 Design for developing a fantastic rebrand for us, to Rob Lancaster at Outstanding Events for delivering on the day with a truly remarkable event set up, and to Ashley Povall at That Video Strategy Company for capturing us all on camera and making sure to only get our good sides.

Missed the hype on social media? Here’s a recap of what went down…

02. working with the MoD.

It is truly mind-boggling that we closed one of our first escape room deals with none other than the UK MoD’s Special Forces, who borrowed one of our escape rooms to take round some of their reserves. And… not only did we get to work with them, they also left us a glowing review! If you hear us name dropping them in 2024, it’s because we’re super proud of ourselves.

03. where’s the f in secops christmas party.

Yes, we love parties. Yes, we love Christmas. Yes, we love partnering up with people who do cool stuff with a great community. So when the team at “Where’s the F in SecOps?!” asked us to collaborate on a Christmas party with a great community, we couldn’t really say no!

With a great talk from Ian Littlefair at Venator about the awesome work he’s been doing with Hoxhunt, a cracking panel including the likes of James McKinlay, Ruby Motabhoy and Michael Sage, and the global debut for our mini escape rooms “The Departed” scenario, it really was an event to remember. And we can’t wait for another one in the new year!!

04. teaming up with CISO alliances.

The absolutely awesome team at CISO Alliances have been a godsend to us. From introductions to some fucking fantastic companies and getting us involved in their Journeys to Inspire group to probably the funniest work calls I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of… these guys are great. We’ve got some super exciting work on the horizon with them, taking our escape rooms to another continent and generally being amazingly awesome.

05. making best friends with so many lovely people.

If there’s anything good that has come out of this year, it is the fantastic relationships we’ve built with people from all across the infosec community. We’ve been invited to Christmas parties, and lunches. Coffees and beers. Work events. And non-work events. It’s been quite a whirlwind. And we’re grateful to every single person who’s chatted to us, taken the time out to learn what we’re all about, and shared some love and support for the journey we’re on.
