Capula Went Nuclear
When the nuclear industry meets an OT crisis simulation, sparks fly.

On 9 December in Stone, Capula brought together a sharp cross-section of the nuclear sector... EDF, ONR, Sellafield and more... for a security forum that didn’t just talk about risk. It stepped straight into it. We brought our escape room activities to Staffordshire where we ran The Break In, our high-pressure OT escape room where a sealed-off Local Equipment Room, a darkened PLC, and a ticking clock set the tone.
A Day Built for people who Live This Stuff
There’s something electric about running The Break In for teams who operate in real critical environments. The moment the scenario brief landed... a nuclear facility glitching into lockdown, CCTV offline, access controls frozen... you could see the room sharpen. These weren’t just players; they were specialists who know exactly what “this should never happen” feels like.
As the teams hurtled through padlocks, hunted for tampering, bypassed access controls and reported into their SOC like a well-oiled incident unit, the energy in the room shifted from curiosity to full immersion. It was fast. It was focused. It was fun in that high-stakes, sleeves-rolled-up way only engineers truly relish. And the engagement? Off the charts.
How The Session Landed
When the final lock clicked open and the last update hit the SOC, the conversations didn’t slow... they accelerated. People asked how they could bring the experience back to their own teams. With security awareness being a big topic in the OT sector at the moment, it's great to be able to showcase a different way of delivering content. Minus the snooze factor.
The day didn’t just showcase an escape room; it showcased Capula’s commitment to building meaningful, practical conversations around nuclear security. With expert speakers like Andrew Ginter from Waterfall Security in the mix, the event struck a balance between insight and hands-on adrenaline.. and it really worked.
This feels like the start of something bigger, and we’re excited to keep building with the Capula team.
Onwards and Upwards
Huge thanks to Capula and every attendee who stepped into the chaos with us. If today proved anything, it’s that when specialists collide with immersive learning, the results aren’t just memorable... they move the needle.
