When The Telegraph decided to launch their Security Awareness Month, they weren’t looking for another “click through this slideshow and pretend to care” moment.
They wanted something bold. Something memorable. Something that would get everyone talking.
So they brought in The Breach... and well… the feedback speaks for itself.
What we delivered
We ran The Breach, our SOC-style escape room where teams play detective, analyst, and incident responder in one gloriously chaotic hour.
Players had to:
-
Identify how a ransomware attack unfolded
-
Track down clues across devices and props
-
Work together under pressure
-
Make decisions like a real incident response team
Fast. Immersive. Zero boredom. Maximum dopamine.
What actually happened
Within minutes of setting up, the sessions were full... and they stayed full across the month, with The Telegraph's team reporting they ended up with a waiting list... our favourite kind of organisational problem.
Across the month, they saw:
-
Teams getting seriously competitive
-
Non-technical staff loving it
-
People dragging colleagues in to sessions
-
Internal word-of-mouth spreading faster than the fictional breach
Several people even stopped the CISO in the corridor to rave about it.
Iconic.
What they said
Amazing. Really good fun.”
“A really great leader. Instructions were clear and helpful when needed.”
“The best.”
“Can’t wait till the next time.”
That’s the feedback The Telegraph received during their month-long cyber escape room programme...
They've also shared publicly that the programme delivered:
-
97% positive feedback
-
94% who want to do it again
-
A waiting list
-
Teams confidently running sessions themselves after training
He also noted that many employees assumed it would be “too technical”…
and then discovered it absolutely wasn’t.
(We love busting that myth.)
The Telegraph have already decided to make escape rooms a regular part of their L&D / cyber awareness programme, with round two coming in Q1.
